Learning Outcomes; At the end of this learning delegates will be able to;

 

  

• Recognise the importance of effective managerial and leadership communication in the workplace

• Understand typical and common barriers to communication

• Appreciate the impact of behavioural communications

• Encouraging adult to adult conversations rather than 'emotionally based' discussions

• Apply assertiveness techniques to create win/win communication and deal effectively with difficult behaviour

• Use a template (toolkit) to manage difficult behaviour professionally, and hold ‘difficult conversations’

• Understand the importance of feedback as an integral part of communication for performance and motivation

 

KEY LEARNING UNITS

 

Communication types –

Identifying and understanding various forms of communication and inherent advantages / disadvantages.

 

Barriers–

Common communication barriers with practical exercises – fun but key learning. How to overcome or limit impact of typical barriers.

 

Assertiveness and dealing with difficult people or difficult conversations–

What it is and what it is not and how to modify personal styles to become more assertive. Managing relationships and getting things done.
